The fans and radiator in turn are responsible for removing the heat from the water. The ability of the water to remove heat from the chip is influenced by the water temperature and the speed/volume of water that passes by the contact plate in a given amount of time. The water's job is to transport the heat out of the system through the radiator. The water temperature is going to be roughly the same as your case ambient temperature (room temperature plus any system waste heat, including GPU's, etc). The heat is then transferred through the chip lid, thermal paste, copper plate on the cooler, and then finally into the water. The voltage to the CPU creates the heat in the chip. Your water temperature is normal and will never be exactly the same as your CPU temps, except for a passing moment in time after waking from sleep or something similar. At some point you will probably take it off and can then try something else, but looking for gains there is somewhat futile. There's nothing wrong with your cooler and the stock thermal paste is fine. Should I reapply some paste or is this sort of behavior normal? I always assumed the pre-applied paste was good enough. The CPU temp didn't change, however the coolant temp dropped to 30.0 degrees.Ĭould this mean that there is something wrong with the CPU - Pump connection? When I installed the cooler I didn't add any thermal paste. After 10 min to let the temps settle, I took another look. In the name of science, I cranked the fan speed to performance mode to see if the CPU temp would drop. Just before writing this post I noticed the idle temp of my CPU was 37 degrees and the coolant was at 31.5 degrees while on quiet mode. After running a few tests on my overclock, I noticed that the temperature of the coolant only rises from ~31 to ~33 degrees while the CPU changes from ~37 idle to ~75.5 100% load. The coolant temperature doesn't seem to rise in sync with the CPU temperature. I was wondering if something is wrong with my H100i setup. I am sort of new to the water cooling scene so forgive me if this question seems kind of silly.
